Social and Health Care Teachers against Violence HEVI 2008–2010The aim of the HEVI (Social and Health Care Teachers against Violence) 2008–2010 project is to respond to the needs of teachers in the social work, social care and health fields, at vocational and higher education levels, on the issue of intimate partner violence (IPV) in Europe. In most European countries only basic education training materials on IPV are available and consequently there is a training deficit in both teaching and tutoring methods, as well as in material specializing in IPV. Intimate Partner Violence is a very recent subject in the basic education of social and health care professionals, and to date very few countries include the subject in their educational curricula. The further and continuing education programmes for teachers in these areas do not currently include the subject of IPV. It is the objective of the HEVI 2008–2010 to bring together current innovations from Finland, Germany and Ireland in the teaching of IPV on professional social and health care programmes in order to enhance training curricula by developing training guidebooks and teaching materials.
