SIL style

Please familiarize yourself with the style of the SIL Proceedings - general style and arrangement and especially the reference citation style in the text and the structure of the reference list.

Full Paper Manuscript Presentation

Please use the following format: Title, Authors, Introduction, Keywords, Main Text. Acknowledgements, References, Authors' Address, Figure Legends, Tables. Minor variation in the structure of papers is permissible. All specific and generic names in the text and tables should be in italics. See below for details on handling graphics.

References in the text should be in capitals.

For example:
HUTCHINSON (1957) or (HUTCHINSON 1957); for two authors (HUTCHINSON & DEEVEY 1957); or for 3 or more authors HUTCHINSON et al. (1957), etc.

In the references, they should take the following formats:
FREY. D. G., 1957: The taxonomy and biogeography of the Cladocera. - Hydrobiologia 145: 5-7. [for papers]
LOHMAN, L., 1988: Nutrient sources and the influence of nutrients on periphyton in Northern Osark Border streams. - Ph. D. dissertation, University of Missouri, Columbia. [for theses or dissertations]
RAPOPORT, E.H., 1990: Areography: Geographical Strategies of Species. - Pergamon Press, New York, 262pp. [for books]
SAND-JENSEN, K.M. 1983: Physical and chemical parameters regulating growth of periphyton communities. - In: R.G. WETZEL. (Ed.), Periphyton of Freshwater Ecosystems: 63-7 1. Dr W. Junk, Boston. [for book chapters].

All references which appear in the text should also appear in the list of references and vice versa. Unpublished papers or data should not be listed in the references.

Figures should be of the highest quality possible. Good, clear photo stats are acceptable. Figures should be such that on reduction to widths of 6.8 cm or 14 cm they do not lose significant information. Legends should be on a separate page and should include explanation of all symbols and abbreviations in the figure and provide sufficient information for the figure to stand alone. Color figures can only be printed at the author's expense.

Tables should be clear and adequately captioned. Use the point, not comma, to indicate decimal places, e.g. 10.0 (not 10,0).
