In Terms of Equity – Quality in Teaching and Learning
Conference 30.9.–2.10.2009, Helsinki, Finland

Professor Kauko HämäläinenWe have the pleasure of welcoming you to the
In Terms of Equity – Quality in Teaching and Learning Conference.

In this conference you will get acquainted with the Finnish comprehensive education system and Finnish teacher training from the point of view of quality and quality assurance in teaching, learning and education management.  One of the focal points of this conference is how the student variation should be treated and mastered in unified or parallel systems of schooling.

The latest OECD’s PISA 2006 (Programme for International Student Assessment) study of learning results in science among 15-year olds has given excellent results for Finnish students for many years.   These results have been the remarkable consequence of the Finnish teacher education and school management system.  We have experienced that teachers are the key factors in advancing a knowledge based society and in keeping up the quality of education.

The Conference will give the participants a comprehensive and comparable insight into sustainable basic education, educational equity, in-service training and Finnish teacher education, including school management and national evaluation and quality assurance.  Feedback from Miracle of Pisa Conference held in Helsinki in 2008 is also included in the conference programme.

We trust the In Terms of Equity – Quality in Teaching and Learning Conference held in Helsinki, Finland this fall will be useful for professionals wanting to learn more about educational solutions in Finland, at a time when the basic education is more important than ever.

Warmly Welcome
